하늘 높은 곳에 앉아 있는 싸이프레스 계곡에는 스키꾼들의 눈바람소리가 눈을 헤치며 울린다

늦가을부터 멀리 하늘에서 하얀 바람을 입고 오는 손님들은 밴쿠버를 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 싸이프레스 마운틴에 황홀한 백설의 축제를 일으킨다. 역시 겨울산은 눈이 쌓여야 그 극치의 아름다움이 드러난다. 어설프게 눈이 내려서는 설악의 풍치를 드러내지 못한다. 함박눈으로 몇 시간 동안 산야를 덮고 덮으면 산천은 이내 희디흰 낙원이 된다. 싸이프레스는 웨스트 밴쿠버에 위치하고 있다. 이 곳은 스키산과 트레일 코스들이 환상적인 풍경과 함께 어울려 더욱 아름다운 곳이다. 많은 사람들이 겨울철에는 스키꾼들이 되어서 찾아오는 곳이기도 하다. 다운타운에서 30-40분만 달리면 도착할 수 있기 때문에 더욱 인기있는 곳이기도 하다.

블랙마운튼을 따라 오르면 환상적인 스키세계를 즐길 수 있는 코스들이 겨울을 장식한다. 산 아래 밴쿠버에서 비가 와도 차를 몰고 오르면 갑자기 초록빛 나무들이 흰 옷을 입고 설악의 파라다이스를 보여준다. 영상 4도 정도의 날씨만 되도 싸이프레스에 오르면 영하의 날씨가 된다.
