이미 동계올림픽을 개최했던 위슬러는 천상의 스키장이다. 세계 각처에서 몰려 든 스키꾼들이 형형색색의 스포츠잠바를 걸치고 흰눈을 질주하는 모습은 그야말로 장관이다. 인간의 놀이가 끝이 없지만 이렇게 눈 위로 미끄러지며 쏜살같이 달리는 순간의 스포츠는 마치 삶을 초월해버린 사람들 같다. 그들의 육체가 내려가는지 그들의 영혼이 내려가는지 분간하기 힘들 정도다. 바람의 존재라고나 할까.

위슬러는 그 주변이 아름답다. 겨울철이 지나면 봄부터 주변 무지개호수에서는 꽃이 피고 신비롭고 아름다운 산맥과 계곡마다 저마다 매력적인 주택들을 앉아 있다. 산수의 어우러짐이 거대한 한 폭의 서양화같다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 블랙콤 운봉들과 어울려 위슬러는 이미 세계적인 관광명소로 알려져 있으며 많은 관광객들이 해마다 찾아오는 곳이다.
