세상에서 가장 귀한 것이 무엇입니까. 누가 자신에게 값비싼 보석을 주었다면 귀하게 생각할 것입니다. 그러나 그 보석을 땅 속 깊이 파묻어 버린다면 그 소중한 빛을 상실하고 말 것입니다. 아무리 귀한 것이라도 소홀하게 다루거나 깊은 밀실에 가두어 놓는다면 그것은 참 의미를 상실하고 맙니다.
오늘 가장 중요한 것은 바로 나 자신과 내 주변입니다. 내가 보고 있는 하늘과 빛 내가 느끼고 있는 바람과 맛과 이웃입니다. 현재 내가 살고 있는 이 순간이 가장 소중하고 내가 보고 만지고 느끼고 체험하는 이 현실이 나에게 가장 소중한 것들입니다.
행복은 멀리 가서 찾는 것이 아니라 가장 가까운 곳에서부터 찾는 것입니다. 내 가족 내 친구 내 동료 내 민족이 바로 나에게 가장 귀한 보석입니다. 여기 이 순간을 귀하게 느끼고 감사하지 않으면 다음 순간이 결코 소중하게 다가오지 않습니다. 기도란 나의 욕망을 채우기 위한 욕구가 아니라 오늘 현재를 그대로 수용하고 감격하고 경탄하는 시요 노래요 음향입니다. 그 중에서도 가장 귀한 것은 내 자신입니다. 나를 소중하게 생각하는 길은 나를 나 되게 하는 것입니다.
과거로부터 쌓였던 상처와 아픔을 말끔히 청소하고 분노와 원망과 억울함과 절규를 다 녹여버리고 오늘 다시 태어난 기분으로 사는 것이 가장 소중합니다. 생일이 일년의 오로지 한 번이 아니라 매일 매일이 탄생이요 잉태요 새로운 시작입니다. 나를 힘들게 하는 사람들 나를 죽음같이 고통스럽게 하는 현실 그 모든 것에 매여 있다보면 삶은 점점 수렁으로 빠져들게 마련입니다.
부활은 죽음에서 새로 시작된 메세지입니다. 어떤 상황 속에서도 나를 소중하게 생각할 때 나는 타인과 만나 이웃이 되고 우주와 만나 일치와 조화의 역사를 이루는 것입니다. 감옥에 있어도 옥중서신을 써 내려가고 소설을 씁니다. 가난해도 시를 쓰고 노래를 만듭니다. 미래를 꿈꿉니다. 매일 나와 나 자신의 전쟁속에서 진정한 나로 거듭나는 자연스럽고 부드러운 결심이 자아의 보물을 쏟아 놓습니다.
이 세상의 모든 것이 소중하지만 그 소중함의 시작은 나로부터 출발합니다. 성을 빼앗는 자보다 내 마음을 이기는 자가 더 위대합니다. 마음이 못 생긴 사람들이 즐비한 현실 속에서 외모보다 내 마음을 더 아름답게 가꾸는 마음이야말로 그 어떤 것보다 가치있고 위대합니다.

What is the most precious thing in this world? If you have received expensive jewels from someone else, you will think it is precious. But if you buried the gem in the depths of the earth, you would lose that preciousness. No matter how valuable you have, if you neglect it or lock it in the secret room it will lose its true meaning.
The most important thing today is myself and my surroundings. It is the sky and the light I see. It is the wind, the taste and the neighbor that I feel. Now this moment is the most precious. These moments that I see, touch, feel and experience are the most precious things to me.
Happiness is not to go away but to find it from a close place. The most precious gem for me is my family, my friends, my colleagues and my people. If you do not feel precious here, the next moment will never come to cherish.

Even though I am in prison, I write down my essay and write a novel. Even if I am poor, write poetry and make songs. I dream of the future. I am reborn as a true me in the war with me and myself every day. This natural and gentle determination pours out as a treasure of self.
Everything in this world is precious, but the most precious thing is that the beginning is from me. The one who overcomes my heart is greater than the one who takes away the great castle.
There are many people in the world with ugly minds. In these places, the wisdom to make my mind more beautiful than my appearance is more worthy and great than anything else.
You are the most beautiful and brilliant diamond in the world. Let's start the day with this poetic touch on my self.
